Promise Me...

A friend recently posed a thought-provoking question on Facebook: "If you woke up today knowing it would be your last day on earth, what would you do? Who would you spend your time with?"

This question made me pause and reflect, as many of her posts do. She is incredibly kind, true to herself regardless of others' opinions, unafraid to try new things, and extremely intelligent and I admire her. Thanks friend.

There is something I want everyone to know. I want my sons and their wives, my beautiful daughters-in-love to know. I want my future grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all future generations to understand this without a shadow of a doubt. If you're reading this blog somewhere out there in the future, know that if there is one core message in this blog, this is it.

Please, read this. All of you. Promise me that if you don't know God in this way, you will think about it deeply. If you are struggling because the church has treated you or someone you love poorly, and you feel like walking away, please read this and reflect. Know that such experiences do not represent what the Church is meant to be, nor do they reflect the love of Christ. There is absolutely nothing you have done that could make Him stop loving you.

You are more deeply loved than you can imagine. Not a sentimental kind of love, not a vague kindness—but the fierce, unrelenting love of the God who made you. He knows your every fault and failure, and yet He has not turned away. Instead, He came for you.

Jesus Christ—God Himself in human form—entered our broken world. He lived among us, suffered with us, and died for us. Not because He had to, but because He wanted you to be free—free from guilt, fear, and the loneliness that says you’re on your own.

You need Him, and He is ready for you. Not when you’ve cleaned yourself up or figured everything out, but now. Just as you are.
You don’t have to earn His love. You just have to say yes. Say yes to Jesus—put your trust in Him—and you’ll find the love, purpose, and hope your soul was made for.

I don’t say this as someone who has it all together, but as someone who has found the One who holds it all together. And I long for you to know Him too.

Say yes to Him. Trust Him. He is not a theory; He is the Truth. And in Him, you will find life, now and forever. There is only one thing that can separate you from God's love for all eternity: to reject Him until the very end, to die having refused His invitation.

  1. Love this. If I had to earn this I would not be close to doing so.
