He Knows My Name, and I Am His...

“But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.’”Isaiah 43:1

Lately, life has felt like a battle. Some days, it’s a quiet, internal struggle; other days, it’s a storm that I can’t seem to outrun. I’ve walked through adversity before—through pain, through loss, through sickness, through moments that have left me wondering how I would ever find my way back to normal again. And now, as I stand in the middle of yet another difficult season, I find myself searching for something solid, something sure.

And then, I hear this whisper in my heart:

“I have called you by name. You are mine.”

The Power of Being Known

There is something profoundly comforting about being known—not just in a surface-level way, but deeply, truly, intimately known. The God who formed the stars, who carved the oceans, who set the mountains in place—knows my name. He knows my fears, my doubts, my weaknesses. He sees the parts of my story that I wish I could erase, the wounds that still ache, the fears, doubts, and uncertainties that keep me up at night.

And yet, He calls me His own.

He doesn’t turn away when I feel too broken to be useful. He doesn’t abandon me when my faith is fragile and full of questions. He doesn’t condemn me when depression casts its shadow or when anxiety tries to steal my peace. Instead, He draws closer. He reminds me:

  • Fear not—not because the storm isn’t real, but because I am never alone in it.
  • I have redeemed you—I am not defined by my struggles, my failures, or my pain.
  • I have called you by name—I am not forgotten, not overlooked, not insignificant.
  • You are mine—no matter how lost I feel, I belong to Him.

When Life Feels Overwhelming

Maybe you’re in a season where life feels like too much. Maybe you’re carrying burdens no one else sees. I can promise you I am. Maybe you’re wondering how much more you can take. If that’s you, let this verse be your anchor.

God’s love for you is not based on how strong you feel right now. It’s not dependent on whether you have all the answers. It’s not shaken by your doubts, fears or disappointments. He sees you—the real, raw, exhausted, hurting version of you—and He still says, “You are mine.”

That truth doesn’t take away the pain, but it does remind me that I don’t have to walk through it alone. It reminds me that the One who called me by name will never let me go.

So today, I’m holding onto that promise with everything I've got. Even in the hardest moments, even when my knuckles are white... I am His. And that is enough. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or says or does. I am His.

A Prayer for the Weary Heart

Lord,

There are days when life feels heavy, when the road ahead seems uncertain, and when the burdens we carry feel too much to bear. For anyone reading this who is struggling, who feels lost, weary, or overwhelmed—meet them right where they are. Remind them, and remind me, that we are never alone.

You see every tear, hear every unspoken prayer, and know every fear that weighs on our hearts. Thank You for calling us by name, for never letting us go, for claiming us as Your own. When anxiety rises and doubt creeps in, cover us with Your peace. When we feel unseen, remind us that we are fully known and deeply loved.

Help us rest—not just in the knowledge of Your presence, but in the certainty of Your love. Give us strength for today, hope for tomorrow, and the assurance that no matter what we face, we are Yours.

Amen.
